This fine survey of Spanish broad gauge DC electrification begins with 1911 three-phase electrification GergalSanta Fe and the 3kV Norte electrification, originally envisaged for 7.5kV AC. In 1926, Norte decided to continue with 1.5kV on three difficult sections, which was followed by other companies and later RENFE. 3kV later became standard, and the conversion was completed in 1991.
The book describes the several electrification projects and locomotive and EMU types without going into too much detail and is very well illustrated with colour and monochrome photographs and line drawings. 208 pages 27x21 cm, sb.
