The Ceylon Government Railways had two 762mm gauge systems: the Uda Pussellawa Railway (1903-48) and the Kelani Valley Railway (1902-97). This is an impressively detailed history of them, their stations, rolling stock and timetables. The book also deals in less detail with industrial railways. It is illustrated by numerous plans, maps and photographs, including many in colour. An interesting chapter deals with the shooting of the spectacular bridge scene in the film "The Bridge on the River Kwai". 450 pages 20x25 cm, hb.
The small print run and high cost of shipping from Sri Lanka makes this fine book fairly expensive.
