In tsarist Russia, supply railways was the term applied to narrow gauge railways, which would supplement the broad gauge railways. Both state and private capital built narrow gauge railways on the present Estonian territory. Armoured trains were employed during the War of Independence 1918-20, but during the Cold War the narrow gauge railways were abandoned, as the Soviet army found them inadequate.
This is a well written history, illustrated with 56 line drawings and numerous photographs. 271 pages 20x27 cm, hb, Slight damage to corners.
