The story of a unique British locomotive.
In 1929 the LMS let NBL build an experimental ultra high-pressure locomotive, based on the Royal Scot Class. It was numbered and named "6399 Fury" and is generally known as "Fowler's Fury" (Fowler was the Chief Mechanical Engineer of LMS at the time). One ultra-high pressure tube burst in 1930, but trials continued until 1933. In 1935 this locomotive was rebuilt into a Royal Scot ("6170 British Legion"). The principles of an ultra high pressure steam locomotive, building the Fury, its boiler explosion and trials are thoroughly covered by this book. There are many detail photos, drawings and other relevant material to make the story more understandable.
