Fine collection of photographs of German narrow gauge locomotives and railways of the Nazi era 1933-45. The authors had planned a volume on solely their military use in WWII as a sequel to their book on WWI, but found that there was simply too little material of high quality. During WWII, photographing railways was regarded as espionage. So in addition to military railways, we see a wide range of field railways employed in building canals and motorways, at coal and amber mines, in forestry and industry, and finally, in clearing the debris of bombed cities. 144 pages 30x21 cm, 246 photographs, hb.
