This book introduces you to all the conventional underground railways, but also to many hybrid systems that features certain metro characteristics. We will travel from Germany's oldest U-Bahn, that of Berlin, to the modern underground tram station in Rostock, passing through all the light rail and S-Bahn systems with underground stations. In a special section we look back at the frustrated U-Bahn projects in Bremen and Ludwigshafen/Mannheim.
